A Grain

My second project at the Krenov School: a double-carcass cabinet in a stand. Designed to store seeds in jars in the upper cabinet and in packets in the lower cabinet. Inspired by my first ever woodworking project completed in collaboration with the Napa County Seed Library, the CIA at Copia, and my own students, the goal of this recent project was to emphasize the first project’s message: the importance of seed saving, sovereignty, and diversity. The upper cabinet includes a tambour top, veneered elements, and curves, while the lower cabinet is of solid wood. Brass pulls were shaped and bent by hand.

Thank you to Todd Sorenson for the photo documentation, my instructors for their guidance, and my classmates for our community. Thank you to Johnny’s Seeds and Strictly Medicinal Seeds for their kind donations of seed packets for demonstration.
