Birch Stool
Quick project completed with one goal. A student came to class in late January with a request from his parents to make his time in shop class useful- they wanted a perch for playing guitar. I was reminded of the “3-legged Staked Stools” article from Lost Art Press and, before sending him on an impossible quest with a printed PDF and “good luck, buddy!” I needed to make sure this could be done in our surprisingly well-equipped, still high school level shop. It could and it was fun. He got to use the nice walnut and I went with birch offcuts. The legs were trimmed to a height somewhere between a wine crate and the kitchen chairs at the Krenov School- both excellent for dovetailing, this seat more satisfying.
Birch. Finished in shellac.
